Back in it's heyday, Roanoke had two railways - Norfolk & Western and Norfolk & Southern. Today there's only Norfolk & Southern. Our local transportation museum has a few of the retired Norfolk & Western steam engines on display that you can see up close and personal.
Before Andrew was born, Jerry and I took Alex to the museum so that he could visit the trains. Here are some pics from our visit.

| This museum is just a few blocks from our house. It was very well done, especially given the size of our city. |

| There was a huge miniature train display with three or four electric trains running throughout. This was just one of many small street scenes they had built. The whole display was bigger than our living room. It was pretty spectacular. |

That looks like the perfect pre-baby outing. What a fun museum to have close by. Love the miniature town and little alex sized train. How fun!
The boy loves his trains--doesn't he? Glad you guys got to have one last family outing before baby boy arrived. I have a feeling you guys will be back to that museum before you know it. I love seeing kids having an interest and passion for certain things. It's so fun to watch as a parent!
