Baby Bump 27 Weeks

27 weeks down, 13 left to go. Can that be right? Holy mackerel - that'll be here before we know it.

The baby is moving like crazy these days. And I think he's finally starting to have the hiccups, though I still can't decipher between those and punches and kicks. Regardless, lots of movement going on.

Let's see...what else is happening? A little sciatic nerve pain, a little shortness of breath, a lot of trips to the bathroom. Fun times.

Seriously though, I can't complain too much. Everything has been going along well. Hopefully the rest of the pregnancy will be as easy as the first part.

Sneak Peek at the Master Bed/Bath Progress

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The master bed and bath are about two weeks away from being complete. Which means that the only major project left with the house is the upstairs guest bath. If you knew the filth we've been living in, you would know what a huge moment this is for us. The countdown is on!

So here is a little bit of the progress - a sneak peek if you will...

This is the master bedroom sleeping area before we started the work...

This is the sitting area of the bedroom before any work began.


And here it is after the sheet rock and paint work. See the area to the left of the two closets? We had this area opened up and it will now be the "coffee bar" that Layla designed for us. We're going to put in a mini refrigerator and install shelves on the top half of the space.


The closet doors will look like this (but painted white). We'll have one set on each side.


This is where we're going to have built-in bookshelves installed - to the space on the right side of the window.

The vinyl stained glass stickers will come down just as soon as we can get in to clean up the space. To the left of the window that doesn't have the stained glass vinyl stickers, we will install a vanity that looks like this.

Spring Fever

I've been in Dallas for the last week on business. Meanwhile in Roanoke, spring has exploded. The tulips have bloomed. The dogwood trees are gorgeous. It's just fantastic. I was glad to return to warmer weather and color sprinkled throughout the city.

Baby Correa - 26 Weeks

Jerry and I went to the doctor yesterday for the 26-week checkup. The last picture we got like this one was a little frightening, but these days he's starting to get more plump and look a little cuter. One of the things I love about this picture is that it looks like his head is cradled in a hand while he sleeps. Apparently he is also sucking on the umbilical cord. That's my son - always looking for more food. =)

He weighs 2 lbs. 5 oz. so we were happy to see that he's right on track for his "age." We're still sticking with the July 21 due date, but according to the sonogram results, it could be earlier (July 14 is what they show). Personally, I would love to have a Fourth of July baby!

A Night Out

Jerry and I took Greg to one of our favorite restaurants in town called Homeplace. For those of you from Dallas, this place is very similar to Babe's. Yum!

Upstairs Guest Bathroom

Last weekend, Greg flew in to help Jerry and I take on a makeover for our second guest bathroom that's upstairs. There's lots of work to be done, but they've made some serious headway in the last few days.

When we moved in, the bathroom looked something like this. If you look closely, you'll notice that the only light fixture in the room was over the medicine cabinet, which made it a bit awkward when you were looking into the mirror over the sink to get ready.


So Greg and Jerry removed the original lighting and installed two new mounts for wall sconces that will flank the new vanity that we'll install. (Yes, that means that we're getting rid of the original sink. I know, I know. We're crazy for doing that, but I've got some ideas brewing in my head that just don't work well with that sink.) They also installed a new fan/can light in the ceiling which will help us to pull moisture out of the room when the shower is being used. Plus it gives us a little bit of extra light.

The wall sconce lighting will look like this. We'll have one on each side of the mirror.

We'll install a faucet like this. I'm going for a "farmhouse" look in this bathroom.

Notice in the photo below that there are exposed water pipes that run along the edge of the baseboard. That has driven Jerry crazy from the minute we saw this house.

So he and Greg spent all day Saturday re-plumbing the pipes to run under the floor.

The other thing they did was remove the old medicine cabinet. Mom, I know you're about to fall out of your chair because we're removing so many of the "originals," but we did manage to salvage the mirror part, and we're hoping to re-use it in the house somewhere.

So here's what's left to tackle in this bathroom:
• Rebuild the frame around the tub
• Install the hardibacker board on the wall to the side and at the back end of the tub
• Tile the frame on the tub and the walls where we've installed the hardibacker
• Put hardibacker on the floor
• Tile the floor
• Sheet rock the walls and ceiling (although I'm contemplating beadboard on the ceiling)
• Paint the walls and trim
• Install a new toilet
• Install the vanity and sconces
• Replace the baseboards
• Install crown molding

I'm sure there's more, but that's a pretty good chunk of the work. All before July 21.
