This sweet little guy is three. THREE!

Don't let that scowl fool you – he was just getting into character for his superheroes-themed party. Apparently, Batman does not smile. It's serious business, this superhero thing. BAM! KA-POW!

We invited Roo's super friends to join us for training at the Superhero Academy. When they arrived, each guest received a bag with a training checklist. They had to complete four tasks to "graduate."
  1. Select a superhero name. I had pre-printed several names and cut them out and placed them in a jar for the kids to draw when they arrived.
  2. Discover their super power. Each person got to choose whatever super power they wished they could have.
  3. Create their own superhero costume. They decorated capes and masks.
  4. Complete super-strength training. That is, they each got a few swings at the piƱata.
Once they checked off all their training requirements, they got a certificate that read, "This certifies that this superhero has completed all necessary training to become a world-changing, hope-giving, adventure-seeking member of the Super Friends as credited by the Superhero Academy. "

Look at those faces! Are they ready to fight for justice or what?!

Roo is quite the ham. He seemed to enjoy being the center of attention while we sang "Happy Birthday" to him. He wore a smirk the whole time.

It's always nice to have help opening the presents. ;-)
