Sammy and Alex - One Month

It's hard to believe that a month has already come and gone. Time really seems to fly (except during the night time feedings when I feel like it drags on and on and on and on...).

Jerry and I have enjoyed watching Alex grow. Here's what the little man has been up to.

• Yesterday he had his first "coo." So far, the only peeps we've heard out of Alex are crying and hiccups. I was so excited to hear a new noise. Especially a sweet one.

• Speaking of hiccups, for the first two or three weeks, Alex would get them after every feeding. Thank goodness he only gets them occasionally now.

• Much like his friend Jackson, Alex enjoys his time outside. If he is fussy, normally you can take him on the front porch or for a ride in the stroller, and he'll calm down.

• Yesterday he set a record for spitting up. Five times in less than five minutes. I think he may have spit up his entire breakfast. Needless to say he was hungry shortly thereafter.

• He's able to see things better. If you put a toy in front of him and move it slowly, he will follow it with his eyes.

• He's enjoying his baths a lot more. Still a little bit of fussing, but for the most part, he seems to like it.

• Alex has now moved into his room to sleep at night. Admittedly, I was a little sad for him to make the move out of our room, but I felt like it was time. He's done pretty well sleeping in there at night - all of his little sock monkey friends are there to keep him company.

• In the last few days, he's broken out with a case of baby acne. I am a self-professed picker. But I have managed to restrain myself and leave his little acne alone. Fortunately, Aunt LiLi told us that if we wash his face each night with a wet washcloth it will help clear it up. Thanks for the tip.

• For the last few nights, he's managed to make it four hours in between feedings. I love having an extra hour of sleep!!

• He's enjoying his discovery mat - as long as he's on his back. Tummy time is another story altogether.

• I'm proud to say that he LOVES story time. We read bible stories, Beatrix Potter books, Guess How Much I Love You, Counting Kisses, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Curious George stories, Giraffes Can't Dance, Chimpanzees of Happytown, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and many others. While he doesn't really look at the pages yet, he loves to listen to me read to him. It's a special time for us.

As promised, here is his monthly picture with Sammy.

And just for grins, here he was with Sammy when he was just 11 days old.

Oh, I LOVE hearing every little detail! I am so happy that he enjoys books! =) Noni is a big fan of reading. I LOVE the month picture with Sammy. Is that one of Zack's or a new outfit?? SOOOOOO cute!!! Not biased at all. XOXOXOXOXO

I love all his recent accomplishments. Yay Alex for sleeping longer these days!! And aren't his coos just the most precious thing! I love his photo. He is just gorgeous.

Quick comment on the baby acne...Kaitlynn and Connor both had a bad case of it. One of my friends recently told me that rubbing olive oil on the affected areas many times a day would help clear it up. I tried an olive oil ointment but was never disciplined enough to use it often on Kaitlynn, and the acne cleared up within about 2 weeks.

LOVE the pictures and updates!!! Almost all babies get baby acne and it goes away and they get their perfect skin back. We didn't do anything to either Katie or Allie and they are cute - if I do say so myself! :) It won't last long. xoxo, Hilde

Oh my goodness...he just keeps getting cuter! Reading about his spitting up is totally taking me back! I cannot tell you how many shirts are ruined because of Jackson's spit up. He didn't stop spitting up until almost a year! I thought he'd never stop!!! And I remember wondering if he kept anything any of the milk down!

Jackson still LOVES the outside. We play in the yard and walk up and down the side walk all the time.

Love to hear that he loves reading!
