The bedtime routine is the same every night. The cars are parked on the floor near the headboard so that they can get their rest, too. They are lined up perfectly. We read at least two stories, sometimes more if there's time. Then, there are three spots of water to make with bottled water: one on the pillow, one on the sheets, and one on the pjs. (He loves to suck his thumb and rub the wet spots.) After the spots have been made, Alex takes a drink, we turn the turtle nightlight on with the blue light (not green or orange as in days past), we say our prayers, we turn on the fan, and then it is time for bed. Now, you may alter a few of these steps, but don't ever mess with the three spots of water and the drink. Roo has his ear; Alex has his wet spots.

Oh my goodness, that is GREAT! I had no idea Alex had such grand bedtime routines but the water spots make me laugh so hard!! How do they come up with this stuff?! This is one of those things you're going to be so glad you wrote about so you can tell Alex as a teenager and laugh together! I can just picture him all cuddled up, rubbing the wet spots. SO cute!
I so look forward to witnessing the bedtime routine in person next month! Here's a quick story for ya: Connor is just as adament about having a water bottle nearby at bedtime, and he's been sleeping with the bathroom light on for as long as we can remember. When we have sleepovers with friends or cousins, the light usually bothers the other kids but Connor never wanted to sleep in the dark. I told him recently that we have so many fun summer plans coming up, including our trip to Destin with our "cousins". I told him that if he wanted to be able to sleep in the same room with the big kids, he needed to learn how to sleep without the lights on. So we began to "wean" him off the bathroom light, shutting the door more and more each night until he told me he didn't need the light anymore. After that, he looked up at me with an excited face and said, "Mom, do you know what this means? I'm ready for all our summer sleepovers with my friends and cousins!!" Made me smile so big. Gotta love nighttime routines!
But how did you find out about the wet spots...? That is so funny. Hey, whatever works, right?
Now, the sheets, too??? Oh, me oh, my! LOL! Love that Litte Man to pieces. I'd love to have a nightime routine duty... {sigh}... sooner than later. ;)
Roo's ear is much simpler to take care of. LOL! That boy isn't going to have to wait around on anybody to get his things just right! ;) LOVE 'em!!
Oh my gosh, that is hilarious! That might be the most interesting/specific night time routine I've ever heard of. It's funny how they have such different bed time routines. Jackson still plays with his hair to fall asleep. He does like the bathroom light on too. Recently he has asked me every night to pray that he doesn't dream about bears and then we read a story about a dinosaur dad and he now asks me to pray that he doesn't dream about that either. Been almost a month now and he asks for me to pray about it every night.
