My latest yard sale score. Or should I say, Alex's latest? All of these cars for $10. That's less than 20¢ a car! Most of these we did not own, and he is loving the Dinoco "Speed" (Lightning McQueen). It now takes top billing and joins us in all of our daily life adventures.
One of our latest craft projects...a little fire engine made from a shipping box that Alex can get inside and play with. We simply cut the flaps off the top and the bottom, and now he can run around "wearing" it.
| Alex painted the wheels (with a little help from Momma) and the headlights (without my help). He also glued on the "windows." |
| Alex painted the craft sticks (again, with my help) to make the ladder on the back. He also glued on the foil bumper. The Man is a fan of the glue stick! |
| The great thing about this project is that it filled up our craft time for nearly a week! And we used it as an opportunity to talk about shapes and colors. |
| Alex's wheel on the left. With a little help from Momma on the right. |
And when we aren't doing crafts, we've been doing a lot of this...
| Besides his "Speed" car, water and rocks top Alex's list of favorite things. |
| So we ventured to a new-to-us park in town a couple of weeks ago, and lo and behold there was a little creek – heaven for a little rock and water lover like mine. |
| We made "fishing poles." |
| And got barefoot in the mud! |
| And then we started asking other locals about where we might go to find more of these creeks, and this is the one that everyone recommended. Can you believe this gem?! |
| Look how clear! And only ankle deep! Perfect for the kiddos. |
| Shoes came off immediately! Wish we had known about this place all summer long. |
| These babies had the best time! |
| Exploring nature and listening to the sounds of the great outdoors. |
| That's Alex's new thing now. "Sound?" he'll ask. "Crickets. Birds. Creek." He loves all of those sounds. |
| I love when he gets to play outdoors with his friends. |
| He is my little rock gatherer. Big ones. Small ones. He loves them all. |
| A bucket! What a glorious thing for rock collecting! |
In other news, recently Jerry had a business trip to Dallas. He asked if there was anything I wanted him to bring me. Um, yes, please! He asks, "How am I supposed to get all the way across town to get these for you?" My response, "You're resourceful." Truly, one of the most resourceful people I know. That's how I knew he could pull it off. And he did! What a treat!
| Society Bakery cupcakes. Still the best. None like it that I've ever found. I was VERY reluctant to share. |
Little Roo has been practicing tummy time...
| Not a huge fan, but he usually doesn't cry until he's been at it a while. |
| Just as sweet as can be. |
He's also been practicing his many facial expressions...
| Happy. |
| Surprised. Shocked. Tired. You decide. |
| Bored. Annoyed. |
| Sad and pitiful. |
| Upset. |
| Worried. |
Alright. Signing off. The beeper is about to go off on the dryer after fluffing the same load three times, so I must get it out and put away while the boys are napping! Adios, amigos.

I would have snatched that $10 bag of cars up in a heartbeat! What a major score! And the creek - awesome. I think jackson and alex might be a lot alike. They seem to have so many similar interests. We have a small creek by our house and we have enjoyed it too.
Loving all the Roo pics. Getting more precious by the day!
LOVE the creek pictures. Reminds me of the one we had on the farm in Kentucky. I know LM was so very excited to be there. You know your score on the cars was wild! And, that I love the firetruck project! And, the Roo has so many expressions going on! Growing so fast. Love all the precious photos of both the boys! XOXOXOXOXO
I'm loving these photo dumps. Little Roo is getting so big and his little face is just as precious as ever!
So glad Alex is enjoying the outdoors and all the fun crafts you all have been doing. And all those cars...all I can say is WOW! What a steal! I bet he is in heaven with all those. What a great find. Miss you my friend!

I am still so in awe of you and your crafts with Alex. You are seriously one patient and crafty Mama! Makes me feel awful...never in a million years would I even consider it. But, how much fun was it for you to have all that crafty together-time and then to have such a great end result...LOVE it!!
The creek...a definite success! That's gotta beat out any ole' splashpad I've ever seen. Now you know how you'll be spending future summers and playdates! (OK as soon as I typed that, I wanted to take it back. I think you know why.)
I am a HUGE fan of your photo dumps. They are some of my favorite posts. I just love seeing what you and your sweet boys (all 3 of 'em, ha!) have been up to. Eat a cupcake for me. MISS YOU!!!
Oh....you got cupcakes!!! How funny! Were they so delicious?
These pictures are precious. I love the stream, what a great place to play.
And all of the expressions you captured...too cute! Upset is just begging you for (something)
P.S. You better hold on to Jerry! Any man that would go across town for cupcakes is a keeper!
